Update on Cambodia Server Outage – 18-19th February 2020 https://manage.hostasean.com/announcements/23 Tue, 18 Feb 2020 16:05:00 +0000 https://manage.hostasean.com/announcements/23 In the evening of Tuesday 18th February we experienced a serious disk error on our primary Cambodia web server. This has brought the service down for an extended amount of time.
We made the decision to attempt to fix and restore the disk rather than lose two days of data reverting to a backup.
Due to the large amounts of data involved this restore process took significantly longer than expected. Restoring the data completed in the early afternoon of Wednesday 19th February.
Unfortunately as of 18:00 on 19/02/2020 we are still encountering stability issues. You may have seen intermittent access to your website and cPanel since around 15:00 while we try to bring the server back online. We are working on resolving this and hopefully will be fully back in action soon.
It is the worst outage in our 5 year history. While we make every effort to prevent situations like this, these things do happen sometimes.
We’re deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused by this and hope no one has been too badly affected.…

Updates to Domain Registrant Contact Email Addresses https://manage.hostasean.com/announcements/22 Sat, 04 May 2019 20:47:00 +0000 https://manage.hostasean.com/announcements/22 Due to some changes at our upstream domain name registrar, we need to reset the contact email for some domain names in order to better manage them. In these cases the domain contact email will be set to domains@nullhostasean.com, so please don’t be alarmed if you see any email notifications about this sent to your existing domain registrant address.
This update is just so we can manage any domain name and registrar changes seamlessly. It does not affect your domain registration or ownership in any way and you still have full control over your domain name through our client area. As a small bonus it actually gives you better privacy and stops spam reaching your own email account.
If you need to change this contact information back for any reason then you can update your own domain contact information directly through our client area. This will override any bulk changes that we make and you can take full control. Just log in at https://manage.hostasean.com/clients and find your domain name under products and services.
We apologise for any inconvenience, our hand is forced by our upstream domain registrar in this case.
Please contact us at support@nullhostasean.com if you have any questions about this and we’d be happy to answer them.…

PHP mail() disabled to combat spam https://manage.hostasean.com/announcements/21 Tue, 12 Mar 2019 07:25:00 +0000 https://manage.hostasean.com/announcements/21 For the good of everyone we’ve disabled the default PHP mail() function in an effort to combat spam being send from any compromised customer websites. It’s unfortunate that we’ve had to take this action but it’s a case where one or two neglected sites can become compromised and ruin email deliverability for everyone.
If you need to send mail from your website or web app then please use SMTP functions instead of PHP mail().
For WordPress you can try a plugin such as Easy WP SMTP: https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/
For PHP apps you can use PHPMailer: https://github.com/PHPMailer
If you have an ongoing website maintenance & support package with us then we’ve already taken care of it for you – your website functionality will be unaffected and is still able to send email.
Please contact us at support@nullhostasean.com if you have any questions about how to implement SMTP, we’d be happy to help.…
